Over the Holiday season the Lady Rams participated in the annual Penn Valley Holiday Tournament. The tournament gave the Rams a chance to really take on some top competition. In the First round the Lady Rams took on the Lady Irish from St. Joe Lafayette. Though two of the phenomenal starters were missing in the line-up in Sharron Davis and Tinika Burns, the Lady Rams didn't let that bring them down. Instead they came out playing and stuck with the Lady Irish for four quarters, but a few late free thows for the Irish left the Rams on the short end of the stick with a 36-24 final score.
In the next round the Lady Rams took on a weaker opponet in the Lady Pirates from Paseo. Instead of playing against paseo, the scheme was to just play team ball and work on team goals. The Rams came in and did what they had to and let there younger players get some Varsity experience. The Lady Rams took this one with a victory score of 36-5.
In the Final round The Lady Rams took on the Lady Wildcats from Harrisonville. This was for the 5th place Trophy. The Lady Wildcats and the Lady Rams were going head to head throughout the game. Points didnt come easy for the Lady Cats, with senior forward Hermya Roberts shutting down everything in the paint with 7 blocks. This made the Lady Cats start firing from outside, which hurt the Lady Rams early. In the second half the Rams lowered the deficit to 3 and looked to cap off a win. Unfortunatly once again late fouls hurt the the Lady Rams by sending their best shooters to the line 3 times late in the game, which which turned a 3 point lead to a late 7 point lead. The Lady Rams could'nt come awy with it in a 35-38 loss to the Lady Cats.
The Lady Rams ended up coming away with 6th place. The Hogan Prep team MVP for the tournament was none other than sr. forward Hermya Roberts finishing with 28 points and 15 blocks. The other Rams high scorers were Kenya Long with 18 points, Kiera Ford with 11 points and Zanetta Sanders with 9 points. This was a great experience for the Lady Rams. So if you see a Lady Ram in the hallway make sure you tell them good job at the tournament!!!!

The Hogan Prep Lady Rams looked they might have their hands full with the feisty Lady Trojans of St. Mary's, building only a two point lead at the end of the first quarter. At that point, the girls put it in overdrive and outscored their opponents from Independence 20-4 in the second quarter en route to their comfortable victory.
Tanika Burns was a force inside for the Lady Rams, scoring 13 first half points on blistering shooting of 86% from the field. Hermyia Roberts contributed another strong performance, finishing with 17 points on 58% shooting from the field. Myia also had game-leading totals of five assists and five blocked shots. Sharron Davis came out on fire in the second half after spending much of the opening half on the bench in foul trouble. Sharron ended up with 16 points for the game and four steals. Kenya Long continued her strong inside play in her new role as small forward this year with six rebounds and four blocked shots. Kiera Ford had another solid game in her first year in a starting role and joined Sharron in leading the team with four steals. The team shot an impressive 49% from the field for the game.
The Lady Rams have picked up their game at the right time. Their next outing will be Thursday, 12/28, at 4:00PM in the Penn Valley Holiday Tournament against the perenially strong, Class 4 Lafayette Irish from St. Joseph. The team's final two games of the tournament will be on 12/29 and 12/30. Come out and help route the Lady Rams on to a successful holiday tournament at Penn Valley over the holidays.

The Lady Rams found themselves down nine points against a tough Grain Valley team midway through the fourth quarter. Displaying great character, the girls put on an intense full court press for the balance of the game and started chipping away at the Lady Eagles lead. Junior forward Tanika Burns scored the go-ahead basket on a put back with five seconds remaining. That was the Lady Rams first lead since the first minute of the opening quarter. The excitement didn't end there, as Grain Valley pushed the ball quickly up court and got fouled on a three point shot attempt. Fortunately for Hogan, the Lady Eagles were unable to convert any of the free throw attempts and the Lady Rams hung on for a 41-40 victory.
Sharron Davis led Hogan with 15 points supported by balanced scoring from Hermyia Roberts, Tanika Burns, Kenya Long, Kiera Ford and Zanetta Sanders.
The Lady Rams host the St. Mary's Lady Trojans next Thursday in their home opener. Come out and help cheer the girls to victory.

Tuesday night the Lady Rams took on an improved team from last year in the Lady Vikes form Northeast. The Lady Rams started off kind of shaky, then switched gears in the 2nd half but the Lady Vikes had somthing to prove and weren't letting it go down for another consecutive year. The Rams leading scorer was the phenomenal Sr. guard Sharron Davis with 22pts. This was definitely an eye opener for the Lady Rams to never under estimate your opponents. I'm sure the Rams won't let this kill their season. There's a long road to go. Let's grab the Lady Rams by the horns and journey though this season and hopefully make it to the promised land (Columbia). Next Thursday come and check out your Lady Rams playing at home for the first time against the Lady Trojans from St. Mary's. Let's get it Rams !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Hogan Prep Lady Rams built an 8-10 point lead several times against Mid-Buchanan, but the tenacious Lady Dragons would simply not go away. Mid-Buchanan took advantage of some Hogan foul trouble that caused Hogan to sub for Hermyia Roberts and Tanika Burns and scored inside. The Lady Dragons finally took the lead about half way through the fourth quarter, but the Lady Rams never faultered in spite of some questionable traveling calls against them and came out on top in a thrilling fourth quarter comeback.
Sharron Davis led the Lady Rams with 19 points on blistering shooting of 9 for 13 from the field. Kenya Long and Tanika Burns both contributed double figures with 10 and 11 points respectively with both girls shooting over 50% from the field. Kenya and Tanika also led the team on the boards with Kenya pulling down a team-leading 9 rebounds and Tanika sweeping 5 boards off the offensive glass, several of which led to put back goals. Hermyia Roberts led the team in assists with four, steals with five, and blocked shots with five including four in the first quarter which helped set the early tone for the game. Kiera Ford also had five steals and turned the ball over only two times on the evening, despite handling it on most possessions.
The Lady Rams third contest of the season with defending state champion Pembroke Hill was cancelled due to snow and will be rescheduled later in the season. The team's next outing is at Northeast High School on Tuesday, 12/5, with a 5:30 tipoff for the JV game. The team travels to Grain Valley on Thursday, 12/7, with a 6:00 JV tipoff.
